Exciting news for couples envisioning a picturesque vineyard wedding! Saddlehill is thrilled to announce that we will soon be hosting weddings and special events right here on our beautiful preserved farm.

A 2023 New Jersey law (P.L.2023, c.9) allowed preserved farms to host up to 26 special occasion events (SOEs) annually, aiming to boost farm income through agritourism. However, it initially required buildings used for SOEs to be over five years old to prevent new construction solely for events. This posed a problem for Saddlehill Winery, whose main building, completed in early 2024 for wine-related activities, would have been ineligible for indoor events until 2029.

Recognizing this hurdle, Governor Phil Murphy signed an amendment into law on July 1, 2025 (Senate Bill 3418 and Assembly Bill No. 4556). This amendment exempts wineries from the five-year waiting period for buildings primarily used for wine production, sales, or marketing. This means Saddlehill can now host up to 26 indoor weddings and events annually, leveraging their existing facility built for agricultural commerce. The new law is a significant win for New Jersey wineries, allowing them to diversify income without compromising the preserved farmland's primary agricultural purpose. Saddlehill is now preparing to launch its wedding and event offerings.
